Angiokeratoma? What?
1 Attachment(s)
I emailed one of the doctors on this website. I always thought i had a port wine stain and all the doctors i have seen have told me that. As i get older (i am currently 20) it has gotten thicker and rough. Lots of blood blisters and some parts are scaley. Well when i sent a picture to a doctor and described it he said that he thinks i may have Angiokeratoma. I have no idea what this is and there is not much information on it that i can find.
just wondering if anyone knows much about this, or has it themselves? I am pretty worried about it, and just want it gone. When i looked up pictures all the cases looks ALOT worse them mine...but i am worried mine will soon become like that. the picture below is the only birthmark picture i have of mine and its old and not very good...but whatever helps. |
Can I ask if this was present at birth? or did it show up after birth?
My daughter has VERY similar markings on her left leg in the same pattern as yours. I have been told it is not a port wine stain, but her doctor isn't sure about WHAT it is. She is currently having laser surgery on it but we haven't seen much change after 2 treatments. |
Did the doctor you spoke to provide you with treatment options?

Yes, my birthmark has been with me since i was born.
I had laser surgery for two years once a month, NO change AT ALL. just money down the drain and tons of pain. The doctor asked me if i wanted to travel, I live in montana, i can get laser surgery here...but nobody really specializes in birthmarks....so i would have to travel to spokane, Washington....inconvienent |
