How to get an MRI?
Hello,
From what I understand there are doctors, namely Dr. Yakes, who will review imaging CD's sent to them to see if they can help. My question is, how do I go about getting an MRI done? I do not have a primary care physician, should I get one and request one from them? Thank you, Ashley |
Hi and welcome,
That would be the way I would do it. If you are trying to manage a vascular malformation, though, you should probably try to find one with experience, so it might be better for you to go ahead and see a specialist. Where are you located? Missy |
I would find someone who specializes in vascular malformations. A primary care physician might not know enough to even go ahead and order the MRI. It might end up in you going to more appointments than are needed.

I am located absolutely in the middle of nowhere in West Texas. Closest city is Midland/Odessa (4hours driving), after that El Paso (6 hours).

Well, I made an appointment with a family doctor tomorrow. Hopefully he will be willing to put in the order. I called Dr. Yakes office and they said to tell my primary care physician that they require it and he can put the order in.
So, we'll see how it goes. If not, then perhaps this doctor can point me in the right direction to go. |
Let us know what happens!

I went to the doctor and he put the order in. Waiting to see if insurance approves it. :) There's one step at least, now to save up money for the test and cross my fingers.

Well insurance has approved and I an going to have one on Wednesday :)

Glad that your insurance approved it. Hopefully you will have some answers soon!

Got the MRI done and sent it to Dr. Yakes. Just waiting to hear back now. Time is moving so slowly!
