Katie,

There is no evidence to support that birthmarks are hereditary, but research is always being done.

If you have shown no symptoms of KT, I wouldn't worry about it. Many people have PWS on their limbs with no other complications or syndromes being involved. As long as you know what to look for, don't anticipate trouble!
