What do you think?
Hi everyone, I just found this website and it has great info on it!! Since you all seem to have lots of experience with this, maybe you can help us.
My daughter, Casandra, was born 10/8/08. At about three weeks of age, we noticed a strange spot appear. It is located on her vulva and extends to her leg. It is white with a roughened tecture, and is intermittent. So, it will appear only to return to a normal coloration after a few moments, and will then appear again and so on. The portion on the vulva is about 1cm long by 1/2cm tall. The portion on her leg is similar in size, and looks sort of like a varicose vein, except its bright white. It doens't seem to cause her any discomfort of pain, and has only goten slightly larger since we noticed it. The pediatrician had no idea what it might be, so we visited a dermatologist yesterday. He thinks its "probably" a deep hemangioma, but said he's a little thrown off by the color and by how intermittent it is. Sometimes, I can change her diaper several times without seeing it, and then the next day it will be visible quite a bit. He does believe it to be vascular. He thinks we should just watch it at this point, we go back in two months for a checkup.
Anyone have any experience with anything like this? I have talked to some other moms of kids with hemangiomas, some suggested in may be an internal hemangioma. Any ideas? Thanks, your thoughts are appreciated!
