My Son Needs Emotional Support Now!

My 13 yr old son has been battling with the medical & emotional ramifications of his facial AVM for almost 4 years. His current emotional state is so fragile.
He is under the care of several specialists, but he need to talk to someone who understands what he is going through. He feels so alone, hardly any friends, but plenty out there to pick on him.
My husband & I are very frightened for him. Please contact us if you think you can help.

I wish I could help, but I don't know exactly what he is going through as I have a VM throughout my arm.

Hank would be a good person to talk too, hopefully he will see this.

I would highly recommend he joins "glens gang" and shares emails with Glen. Glen has a facial pws and Sturge Weber Syndome. He is an awesome kid (I believe the same age as your son)...and can also connect him to other kids dealing with similar issues. Also, VBF has two child developmental specialists. Leslie Graff and Elissa Rifkin. Elissa has a teen daughter (born with a hemangioma on her nose). I would encourage you to talk with them as they are professionals and have personal experience with vascular birthmarks.
