Unhappy Surgery a VERY real possibilty now

We found out today from Dr. Levitin that surgery is the only way to truly treat Josie's hemangioma on her lip. Has anyone been through this before? I am clueless on the procedure and the insurance red tape. Should I get a case manager now just in case? Sooo many questions.

Is Dr. Levitin in your plan? If not, you should start talking to your insurance company now.

Ask Basia for help. She's our insurance expert: http://birthmark.org/experts.php

Have you scheduled the surgery yet?

I am going the surgery route with my 4m old and can give you pointers on what I did to get it covered in network. It really was not as big of a deal as I thought.

GET a case manager. This took a huge weight off of my shoulders. Have the case manager call the Dr's office directly to get the info from them, etc. That way you are not responsible for calling back and forth, etc.
