Compound/Deep Hemangioma on Chest

Hi I'm wondering if anyone has images of deep hemangioma, as well if anyone has one see on the chest. My son was born with this "bruise" on his chest. We are going to the dermatologist tomorrow to get it check out. My son is now 2 years old. Unfortunately there is not alot of pictures of "deep" or compound hemangiomas. This will definately comfort me if anyone is willing to share. Thank so much.

I have a neighbor whose daughter had one on her chest ... this was years ago .. the child is 9 or 10 now. They did not treat it, though.

Hi there...my cousin's son was born with a large birthmark across his chest. It was present at birth and looked like a flat bruise (different from my own experience with hemangiomas in my own daughters) At first the doctors at the hospital said it was a hemangioma but after further investigation it was determined to be a rarer type of birthmark called a KHE. I'm not saying that's what your son has, it's just that your post kind of jumped out at me since it seemed similar to my cousin's recent experience. I guess I was wondering if this is your first visit to a specialist or has he been seen all along. Like Corinne, I was wondering how it has changed over the past 2 years...I think that will be very important to discuss at your appt. tomorrow. Good luck! Keep us posted!

Hi everyone thank you for the responses. This will be are first visit with the dermatologist. It has grown proportionally with him. Its not very large at all. It has started to slightly fade. I wish I could get a picture of it but the bugger won't stay still enough. It looks nothing like KHE at all but it does look like a deep hemangioma. I will defiantly give an update tomorrow.

Hi gigi22. My daughter had a deep hemangioma right under her eye. So it made her seem as though she had a black eye. I've posted a picture on the forum topic (5 month old with forehead hemangioma). Feel free to have a look. She was treated with propranolol and the hemangioma is now no longer "visible".
