Curious about birthmark on back.

Well I have this birthmark on my lower back, it's hairy and has moles inside of it, ill post a picture if I can. Ive always been self conscious about it, but that's not what im here about. I was wondering if this is the right place to ask if said birthmark is a problem, cause I heard they increase the chance of melanoma. Im 16 years old, and im curious.

Have you seen a dermatologist about it? It is a good idea to keep an eye on it and have it evaluated by a derm. I would also encourage you to send an email to Dr. Mihm on ask the expert page. Please let me know if you need any help.
