For those who have gone through steroid injections

My 7 month old son has an H on his upper lip. We took him to see the ped derm for the first time May 19. At that point she decided she wanted to do steroid injections to see if that helps. The first injection did NOTHING!!! In fact it has gotten bigger. The doctor seemed kinda surprised, but decided to do another round of steroid injections, this time injecting more. When we originally started this, she explained that his lip will probably shrink and then come back and not to worry. What I want to know is how long should it take to see if the steroids are working??? He got the second injection on Thursday and so far NOTHING!!! Am I expecting too much??? Should we be seeing anything at this point or am wishing too much???

Hi! I can't help you with the injection question because my daughter didn't have steroid injections. But she does have an upper lip hemangioma and her specialist had us do the oral steroids right off the bat. The meds did stop the hemangioma from growing almost immediately. I can show you some pictures of hers if you want.

I'm not sure whether or not that will help but at least you can see the progression on the oral steroids. Maybe you could ask the doctor what the other options are at this point if you are not happy with the results.
