Hemangioma under left eye

My 6 week old son has a rapidly growing Hemangioma under his left eye which is currently the size of a dime. It wasn't there at birth and started to develop a week after. I went to my family doctor and a pediatrician and both have told me to just wait it out as it isn't affecting him. Although I can appreciate this method I would like other options available .

I have an appt with a ped/derm who specializes in Hemangioma in a few weeks and don't want to be turned away again. Is there any way I can ask for treatment and not be turned down?

You might ask if your child could be a candidate for propanolol. Right now, if it doesn't grow anymore, it might be ok to consider going with no treatment, but I feel like you need to be prepared in case it begins to grow rapidly. Stress the fact that you want options and a physician who will be open to treatment of some sort if it is needed.

Hi Hana1st - We have a son with a large hemangioma under his eye. See some pictures here We started propranolol about a month ago, and we have already seen considerable difference. We had 3 opinions and they all suggested the same treatment plan. Not to scare you, but the sooner the better to get him into see a specialist. This is my facebook profile. Please send me a message if you want to chat more and see more pictures of his hemangioma after propranolol. He has had no side treatments and the progress has been amazing!

His appointment is scheduled for August 9 with the specialist. I hear she prefers the wait and see approach. He has 2 other hemangiomas, one on his shoulder and knee and those two I don't mind waiting and monitoring. However the one under his eye is concerning and I cannot just sit around with that one.

Will the doctor be able to just refuse treatment such as propranolol or timolol ?

I have an appointment before this with my family doctor should I ask for timolol gel and use this while I wait for the other appointment or just wait? As mentioned not to wait too long with out treatment.

Brownio, your son is beautiful. The treatment thus far has worked well?

Missy, I live in Toronto Ontario Canada, Do you know of any physicians here that would be willing to treat him if his appointment doesn't go well? This is who I am seeing on August 9th
