I need Help with my birth mark

I was born with a large black birthmark on my right big toe. It runs in the family but usually those who have it end up getting cancer in another part of their body. My last relative to have have it was one of my grandmothers sisters. Also my great grandfather(my mothers grandfather) had it. It has never darked or gotten bigger. iI've had it from birth. But I'm havig problems determining what type of birthmark it is. I was told 4 years ago it did not have to be removed but suddenly my doctor is suggesting that it should. It has a indefinite border its not a perfect cicle its like a blob border. It's about 1 inch across. It covers most of my toe. Please if you're willing to help do. I don't want to get rid of my family's history without a few other opinions.

I would suggest seeing a specialist just for a consult and see what they think. usually family practitioners no very little or nothign about these things. If you are serious about keeping the history then don't do anything drastic. take the time to get a few opinions form different specialist and go from there.

OMG! I know exactly what you are talking about!
My brother was born with the same exact thing on his back, its not any type of Hemagioma or Vascular lesion. I forgot what they call it, but it runs in my family too. My brother is 19 and he just had his removed because, yes there is a slight chance that it could be cancerous. They didn't want to take the 13% chance of that turning out. What happened is, when he got older, it started to raise a bit and grow hair on it. It started to change it's form , and thats why they removed it. Now he's just got a little scar there, it's weird not seeing him with it. Better safe than sorry I guess.

I think it's a really good idea to have it checked by a specialist.
