Red spots on the eyelids are very common in newborns.* More often than not they are whats called stork bites, angel kisses, salmon patches, etc.* Generally they go away by the age of 2.* I guess I would just keep an eye on it and educate yourself to the difference between stork bites (macular stain) and PWS (capillary malformation).* You can find that information right here in the VBF website.

I would also watch to see if the red spots start to raise up.* That is an entirely different type of birthmark called a hemangioma.

Julie gave you great advice-as always.
Did you ask your pediatrician about the marks that you see?
If you are concerned, you can always seek the second opinion of a pediatric dermatoligist or Vascular Abnormalities specialist.
I am sure that if you wanted to post a picture here,some people will give you their non-medical, personal opinion.

I am back to the forum,the picture is posted.I also find the same stain on her left shoulder. Thank you help.

That's a hard one. Have you brought it up at her well baby check? I'm guessing she's about 6 weeks...maybe she hasn't gone back in quite yet to see the doctor.

It does look vascular, but you mentioned that it doesn't blanch when you press it. I guess I would ask the doctor to be sure, and if he/she doesn't have a good answer for you ask him/her to inquire with a doctor who is familiar with vascular birthmarks. The appearance of another one elsewhere may suggest that it is indeed more than a salmon patch or angel kiss. But I'm definitely not a doctor, so take that suggestion as only an opinion.

If it does turn out to be diagnosed as a port wine stain, I would recommend seeing an opthamologist to check her eye pressure for signs of glaucoma. Especially as it affects her eyelid.

Good Luck! And as always if you have any questions, ask away! If it were me, I'd start with getting a correct diagnosis...and then take the next step from there if needed.

Where are you located? It could be that if your pediatrician is not sure, there is a dermatologist listed here on the VBF site that may be close to you for correct diagnosis. One thing I have learned is that one visit with the right doctor saves a lot of questions and frustration.

Thanks for you suggestion.I am planing to see a doctor.Yes my baby is 46day.and when she is quiet, we can find a tiny vessel in the skin actually,when cry it will be bluring. anyway i am from China,is there some specialist in your list.Thanks!
