AVM of the lower left Leg...Need HELP!

Hello,

I am a 29 year old male who has AVM of the lower left extemity (leg) and AVM of the left side of the scrotum. I have had two surgeries for the scrotal AVM that consisted of embolization and resection. So far so good.....

I was born with a birthmark that runs from my pelvick region down the inside of my left leg, ends about three inches up from my ankle. Recently I had a procedure done to remove a small open lesion on my lower left calf that was caused by a break down of the skin and would not heal due to AVM (1/2 inch). It is now 2 months post op. and the area that was resected is now not healing. It seems as if it is growing faster after the surgery.

I was woundering if there is any information you have that can help in my situation. Are there any specialists in the Los Angeles, CA area, any information or direction would be greatly appriciated....I have attached a photo.

Most of the doctors listed in California are for pediatrics, but if I were in your situation, this is who I would try to see. Two months post-op is too long for that.

Thanks Missy,

I will give Dr. Reinisch a call today. His office is not far at all. My Dr. now is also a plastic surgeon so it will be good to get a 2nd opinion.

Do you know if a plastic surgeon or a vascular surgeon would be better in my case?

Hello,

AVM's are very much a specialty. Dr. Reinisch may be able to direct you to someone he knows of that treats AVMs????? I really would encourage you to also email one of our "ask the expert" physicians as they deal with AVMs on a daily basis.

Thank you, and I did email Dr. Rosen last night. I am just waiting for a response. I know it can take a while so I will be pacient.
