Talk to a staff member of the doctor's office you go to. They might be able to use codes that are not "cosmetic" in nature. Also, it can often help with insurance if you doctor writes a letter of medical necessity. This letter should include information about how pws will worsen over time, thicken, etc. You have to really tailor the claim to prove this is within coverage necessity. Don't call it a birthmark...it is a vascular malformation or lesion, talk about any psychological concerns you might have. You have to pull out all the stops sometimes to get your way.
