PWS Insurance not covered and Removal
Hi, im new to these forums, found them via google.
Anyways, I have a red portwine stain on back and leg thigh/calf. On the back it is like probabley all together I have almost 2x2 ft pws. I use to get red rashes that use to raise little of skin but not for about 6 months now. 2 Dermatogolist took a look at it and didnt know what it was, all they said it wasn't dangerous or something to worry about.
I have I believe Kaiser insurance HMO in California, Bay area. My doctor at kaiser says its cosmetic and he didnt know what it was and sent me to dermatolgy. The 2 dermatoligist at kaiser said it was cosmetic.
I later paid $100 to get a appointment(consultation) at kaiser cosmetic department. The guy who performs the pulse dye laser, said it was cosmetic and insurance doesnt cover it. Also he said it was portwine stain.
The costs for removal were $150 to turn the pulse gun on. And a $1 for every shot. With all the area 1 treatment would probabley be around $1600. And he said maybe it would only take 4-5 treatments he said because it wasnt that dark. Also because it fades to normal color when pressed on.
I am 18yrs old. And the PWS is still growing, in the past year quite abit.
So is there anyway I can file a claim to get insurance to cover for this? Where? How? Would help alot. I would be happy if they cover for at least have of the treatment costs.
After Pulse dye beam can PWS still grow?
What happens to the blood vessels that get destroyed? So I lose blood when I get this pulse treatment?
Any other comments?
ask me if i confused you anywhere. or for more info.
Thanks alot for reading
