Help w/PWS in Portland OR area

Hello,

I am looking for some direction in finding the best possible treatment for a PWS birthmark I have on my nose. I had treatment on the Birthmark about 8 years ago that was not as effective as I had hoped, but I have heard that there have been many advances since then and I would like to give this another shot. I currently have an appointment with the Key Laser Institute in Portland, OR, and their Pulsed-Dye laser is the V-Star (I think by Cynosure). We also plan to undergo some Intense Pulsed Light treatments.

From what I have read the V Star is not the most advanced laser available, but the people I have spoken with have told me that the Key Laser Institute is the best option available in Portland. Should I go ahead with this doctor? Does anyone know of a better option in Portland? Would I be better off looking for treatment in Seattle (2.5 hrs north, but worth the drive if there's a better option there!). What is the best pulsed dye treatment available now?

Any direction here is greatly appreciated.

I am from the Portland/Vancouver area. My son was treated at OHSU as an infant. Dr. Lee or Dr. Krol perform laser tx. on pws at OHSU. I would be happy to give you more details about this option via email. I have not heard of Key Laser Institute.

Dr. Perkins in Seattle is an option as well. He has extensive experience with lasers to treat vascular birthmarks and has treated adults.

Another idea is to contact Dr. Stuart Nelson from ask the expert area of this site aask specific questions about our case (if you can share photos that would be helpful) and ask about the v-star and the likeihood that this would be beneficial for you.
