Default upcoming appointment with Dr. Buckmiller

Well, Danni's hemangioma has started growing again and is hurting as well. So, we are finally going to Arkansas to see Dr. Buckmiller to hopefully do something for her.
Does anyone have any suggestions of questions to ask while we are there? Any advice/suggestions would be greatly appreciated! I am sort of freaking out about all of this.
Cherie

Our first appt with Dr Buckmiller was in April. She and Diane were wonderful. My son had laser treatments on 4 of his 7 hemangiomas. To be honset, we didn't have to ask all that many questions. They answered everything before I could ask it. I expected to be at the hospital all day that first day, but we were in and out in about 2 hours. The day of his procedure we were in and out in about 2 hours. I can tell you that you are in good hands. Feel free to email me if you have any specific questions. Aubrie.Benson@gmail.com
Good Luck!

I can only agree with everyone else. You are in good hands. She will spend as much time with you as needed for you to feel good about it all before you leave.
We saw her for the first time in Nov. of 2006 and been seeing her every 6 month since. My daughter has a deep partoid gland H. She recieved 2 steriod injection from her, and the follow up have been great. She is talking about removed my daughter's in about a year if no changes occer. She talked about doing a "face lift" if needed. She thinks about the big picture, kids going to school with these and how mean kids can be. She and Diane are wonderful. The whole staff is wonderful.
She will take good care of your child! You will feel better about it all after you see her, or atleast I did.

Kaylin,
Thanks so much for the email. I really appreciate it. Right now, I feel so lost and scared for my baby. Honestly, because of the way Danni's "h" is behaving, we don't even know if that is what it is anymore. She has had it since birth and she is 21 months old. It is deep, hurts, growing again.
What happens on your first visit with Dr. Buckmiller? We went to New Orleans last year and that was a horrible experience. Nothing was done and they didn't seem interested in helping at all and were not willing to answer questions. They just dismissed my concerns and said to wait and see.
I am so nervous about all of this that I can't even think of what to ask when we do go next month.
I tried to email you but the email was returned with an error.
Thanks again!
Cherie

Sorry, we've moved and we changed our email address and I hadn't change it here. (kfoster8254@charter.net)
So, the first time we went, they were set up different then they are now.
Now this was about 5 months ago, but the last time we went. You go to the (whole) ENT department waiting room. Register with a self serve computer. They will call your name and get all your insurance info and all that needed info. They give you a pager and then it goes off, (blinks) you go to the Vascular area. (Up the hall) THere are signs everywhere! Once there a nurse or diane will come in and talk to you, get more info and then with in no time Dr. Buckmiller is in there. Really I have been in and out in no more then 2 hours. Only once was I there longer and that was because she had some Emergency and we were there about 3 hours.
When Dr. Buckmiller comes in she is SUPER nice! She covers ALL of info on H's. She knows her stuff. She makes sure you understand, and takes her time with you. She hears what you have say. She really does care about kids. We had injections given by her given that day. (We usually have to wait 30 mins after the injection to make sure my daughter doesn't have a reaction.)
I can say, we went through 3 months of not knowing that it was. We were sent from Dr. to Dr. in Shrevport, and I finally when I sat down with Dr. Buckmiller I walked out of her office feeling like tons had been lifted off my shoulders. I cried all the way home, because I felt SO much better about all of this. I finally understood, what H's were and how it would effect my daughter's life and mine. There was this stress that had been taken off of me. I hadn't realized how much this had taken over my life.
I hope I have answered your questions and help you feel better about going. I know you will get alot out of it.
Let me know. I don't mind helping you in any way I can.

Cherie, this is the best move you could make for your daughter. Dr. Buckmiller doesn't broadcast her personal life, but I will tell you that she's more than just some doctor who operates on children. She takes each case to heart and treats each child like it's her own. Don't be fearful. I understand your concern and remember how fearful we were when we looked up the definition of "H" and found all these pics online. But GOD is greater than any of this. I pray for your little girl and bind that "h" up and loose GOD's healing to be upon her in Jesus name. Some healings are fast and some are slow, but one things for certain.........GOD gets the glory for all of them. Be encouraged and know that all will be fine. I don't know if you went already, but we travel from Tulsa, OK to Little Rock and are actually in a hotel waiting to see Dr. Buckmiller tomorrow. Sabina FINALLY fell asleep!!!! THANK GOD!!!!!

Let my wife and I know if we can help in any way.

GOD BLESS

K.T. (Sabina's daddy)
