Default Just wondering

I have posted on this site before so some of you might know that my daughter, who is 22 months old, has had a "something" inside her thigh since birth. Looking at last year's MRI and comparing with this year's MRI, the radiologist says that it has grown. No doctor who has seen the MRI and/or my daughter knows what this is. Despite the fact that it swells and hurts, the doctors don't want to find out what it is so they can help her. They say wait another 6 months to a year and see what happens. I thought doctors had to take an oath to help people. I did not realize that it was only an oath to help with the easy stuff!

Wow, I can't believe they are telling you to wait 6 months! That's just horrible, especially since it sounds like your little one is uncomfortable. Can you ask for a second opinion? Most insurance companies are okay with this, especially if there is a pain issue. Also, do you know if your hospital has RN case managers? A lot of times they can help guide/manage your care, and can be good advocates for you. Sorry you are going through this right now, it must be darned frustrating! Also, if there is a patient advocate department, that could also be a good place to start.

Hopefully someone at Children's in Arkansas will actually look at the new MRI soon. They have had it since Tuesday and no one had bothered to look at it as of Friday afternoon. The baby has an appointment in Baton Rouge with a vascular surgeon on Tuesday. I don't hold much hope for that appointment. he is seeing her as a favor to see if he can help with the diagnosis. Also, she has an appointment in New Orleans on the 27th. I am praying that God will send us to the right place soon.

I'm so sorry. I know how frustrating it is to keep being put off and getting the run around. I would definitely start trying to find the most qualified Dr you can. I don't know how you'd do that when you can't even get an idea of what it is.

Good luck. Please update with info from Childrens and your visit.
