Dr. Burrows - Interventional radiologist

My 6 year old daughter has an extensive venous malformation that involves her right lower extremity up into her torso. Her issues are related to progressive knee dysfunction, with flexion contractures and decreased weight bearing. She is usually followed by the folks at CH in Boston, but we have gotten a second opinion w/ Dr. Patricia Burrows (now in NYC) and she recommends use of glue / laser rx/ and sclerotherapy. She states that she has gotten very good results.

Has anyone had experience with this procedure and/or Dr. Burrows?

Hello, I just saw your post..my son is 3and1/2. He has an extensive venous malformation on his thoracic area. We were having him treated at Boston Children's Hospital and with Dr. Burrows in New York City. She is a wonderful doctor as are the doctors in Boston. Unfortunately, my son never responded to the treatments(laser,glue,embolization).Dr. Burrows does not know why, she said some respond and some don't. We were told to wait until he gets older to continue treatment and that they are coming up with new treatments everyday. Did you have your daughter treated with her? What was her outcome? I am deeply saddened that he did not respond and am looking for any other options.

I have been treated by Dr. Burrows & Dr. Mulliken, Dr. John Pile-Spellman, Boston) and Dr. Suen (Little Rock)...all of which have successfully managed and controlled the growth of my venous malformation. I still need procedures in the future to control the vm. It is in my throat, tongue, nasal area, cheek, & ear canal. I am 66 yrs old, and had it alllll my life. Does anyone know of a specialist in San Diego, CA, or in Calif anywhere. I have had to travel to get a specialist to treat me, and wish I could stay closer to home. Feel free to ask me questions regarding scelotherapy, laser, surgery, etc.
