Beta blocker working miracles
Our baby girl has a fairly large H in between her eyes. The mass part was so big it took up the entire area and was going into her eye lids. We started her on beta blockers and within hours it was decreasing in size. We are on week two and it is 50% smaller with NO negative side effects. We are SO happy about this. The red part is starting to gray out as well. People in day care have been commenting on how great it looks!

What is a beta blocker? Is it a shot? Did your pediatrician administer it or did you have to see a specialist?

I took her to that Arkansas Childrens hospital where all they do is treat vascular birthmarks. We did the laser and steroid injection at 11 weeks, that did little for us so they started her on the propranolol a few weeks later. We give it to her three times a day, it is in a liquid form.
It really is amazing, it is ALMOST flat. We did have to take her to get her vitals checked before and after to make sure it did not lower her heart rate. I really cannot tell you how pleased we are! Email me if you have any more questions: TNpratts@gmail.com

Motheroftwo: Get a hold of me! My daughter just started propanolol too --it will be a week tomorrow. I know what you mean about being afraid cuz' of it being a new treatment for hemangiomas. My daughter was also in the hospital for monitoring while she received her few so many dosages. They started out small and increased to the full amount she gets at home. My daughter's is more mushy and is a bit smaller and the color is more skin colored rather than blue. My daughter's is also above her eye. It's not on her eyelid but it's pushing down on it which has the doctors concerned. It was making her eye lid come down and for the first time in a long time we got to see her crease in her eye!
