? About Topical Timolol for hemangioma

Has anyone tried topical timolol, ( topical beta-blocker ). I understand that there has been fairly new research with this drug for the treatment of hemangiomas. The Derm. suggested we try it, said it was topical and would not be absorbed. Has anyone heard anything about this drug? My daughter's h is on her cheek.

My daughter is actually on propranolol which is an oral beta blocker but I have not heard of the topical one. I can ask her physicians that are treating her. She has two, an oncologist and an ENT. Both dr's work in the Hemangioma and vascular malformation clinic that she goes to. She has an appt on Tuesday. If your daughter has already started treatment with this topical gel please let me know how it is going. My daughters h is on her left cheek and front part of her ear. I will pray for you daughter.

I would be interested to know what your daughter's dr.'s have to say about this drug. We have just started the medicine but I will let u know how it goes. How old is your daughter? Is her h starting to involute? How is it looking now with using the meds? I will also pray for your daughter. Thank You !

Hi. I am new here, registered today so I could reply to this post. I am a surgeon in the UK and my daughter (now 13 weeks old) has a haemangioma (mostly superficial) on her right eyelid. She started oral propranolol three weeks ago, with a moderate response to this - a slight but noticeable decrease in size and lightening in colour. We also started a topical beta-blocker (Timolol eye drops, usually used for glaucoma) two weeks ago and I don't really think that there has been a huge improvement since then.
There are only a few published case studies on the use of topical beta-blockers (or indeed oral propranolol) as the published medical literature takes quite a while to catch up with developments. There has been a lot of discussion at medical conferences about the use of these drugs over the last couple of years though. Timolol will only work on the superficial component of the haemangioma.
Hope that helps....by the way, the only side-effect she gets from the combination of both treatments is occasional cold hands and feet.

I would love more info about this. My little girl is 20 mos old and has a h about the size of a cherry on her forehead, right on her hairline. Has it been working for the h located on the cheek? How old is your daughter? I'm wondering if this might be a good non-invasive solution for my little girl. I would love any comments.

we are using it along with propranolol. we started it a few days before propranolol and definitely noticed a difference. my dd has segmental hemangiomas on the side of her head, throat, and lip. we have noticed a big difference in the one on the side of her head, as it is fairly large. we have been on meds. for about 2 weeks now.

My daughter has a very small superficial hemangioma just below her eyebrow. We went to a specialist since it's so close to her eye and I was worried in case it started growing. We have been using the Timolol for about a week and I can already see a big difference. It's a lot lighter, has not grown (and may have even shrunk), and it flat. So, the results for us have been great. However, my daughter is 12 weeks and we caught this when it was still really small (sesame seed-sized).

Today, I'm starting my daughter on both timolol and clobetasol. We are alternating the two treatments (2x/day each). Hopefully it helps! Hers is about the size of a dime so we will see! If it doesn't work, we'll probably start propranolol

Hello, our 2 1/2 baby just had her first laser yesterday ( she has a nose hemangioma) the doctor also add to her treatment TIMOLOL, anyone knows if this work good?
