Default Hemangioma on hand - pictures attached

This is from one of our users, Tara:

Quote:
You can see in the two month photos how it started to become raised, over the next couple months it regressed. Some days it looks better than others. Some of the swelling has come down, but her hand is still a little larger than the other, especially her little pointer finger, but they said this is the lymph/vasculature fluid load so I'm sure as it fades it will improve. We are doing watch and wait, when she is older if she would like she can have laser treatment then, we will let that be her choice. Had the specialists said they feared it would ulcerate and rapidly grow, we would have done everything we could.
I tried to put them all in order and you'll have to see the next post for the rest. But thanks to Tara for sending these for other parents!!

I will just add that while the top has become "lacy" and is involuting wonderfully, the bottom is still quite red, though flattened and lighter in tone than before. It hasn't started to "break up" yet.

We have been advised that it should go away on its own by the time our daughter is about 5, however, I am not sure if the redness on the bottom will entirely go away. Time will tell. As a more grown-up young girl, if she would like, we will support her in getting whatever treatment she would like.

great pictures! All 3 of my kids have hemangiomas. The oldest is almost 5 and her's is barely noticeable. They really do fade.

Hi Tara! Great to see your pictures up here! I wanted to let you know that I noticed that Rachael's is much darker on the palm of her hand and that the top is the lightest..just like your daughter's. See you on Facebook!
