After Laser Surgery Question

OK, Im not totally new to laser sergery, but was wondering about after care and intructions.

Does Lifting and Bending over really prohibit healing?

Hi and welcome!

If your aftercare instructions say not to lift or bend over, then I wouldn't lift or bend over. Vascular birthmarks are, well, vascular, and increasing blood flow to the area right after laser treatment could be detrimental. Depends on the size of the area being treated, the location, the laser settings, etc. So many factors to consider. The bottom line is: better safe than sorry!

Think of it as a doctor-ordered break and get a comfy chair and a good movie!

Well, I guess I am going to call and re verfiy on Monday with there office, because no lifting for 3 weeks or bending over seems a little long. I am dealing with my husband having just had knee surgery so it's been a hard order to follow, and I did severl searches online for post surgery orders but couldn't find those orders by anyone.

Mary, these are probably general instructions for surgical patients. Talk to the doctor, but typically the main concern post laser is to stay out of the sun. Watch for any signes of infection, bleeding, blistering. Keep the area moist and take Tylenol if needed for discomfort.
