numbness in feet

I have a son who is 14. He was born C-section late term. His marks start at the bottom of his feet and go up the back of both legs and cover his buttom until just above where a pair of pants might rest. He has hit all milestones despite doctors not knowing what his extensive marks might mean. However, starting about a year ago, he started to complain that his feet were falling asleep while playing sports. Most people think he is crazy. No ones feet fall asleep while standing up. I am wondering if any one has a similiar story.

What is your son's diagnosis? The type of marking could mean different things and the numbness could definitely be related.

he has vascular malformation is the only diagnosis we got. At first look like a very large hemangioms and lots of drs. came to see him. They were not sure if his skin would tear or if limbs would grow different. His skin feels normal and all limbs appear to be equal. His marks do turn color from light red all the way to purple. We are going to the doctors again today. Thanks for any information

ok I uploaded the photos but we will see if they are attached if not I will need help trying to do it. In these photos his marks are light on this day. They can turn red or purple. They seem to change with temperature. Because he is older now, he did not want me to take any pictures any higher up on his legs.

Has CMTC ever been discussed? CMTC will change color with changes in temperature or anxiety. Also, some children with CMTC talk about numbness and pain in the affected area. It is hard to tell because the only picture that I could see large enough was the one of the foot. It is worth asking about. Depending where you live CMTC may not be something doctors are familiar with.

I had never heard of CMTC. I did go online and it does seem to fit his markings. It could be that the numbness he is feeling in his feet is completly unrelated to his birth marks. We are trying to get in to see the dermotolgist now. It is very hard to get in with him and our doctor only wants us to see this specialist. I tried to re post on of the pictures. I took it to show how his veins are very noticable. Thanks again for your help.

I have a vascular malformation in my leg as well and my leg will turn colors like that and my foot will go completely numb which is really scary, here lately I've had my whole leg going numb and not during times when it's ok... It's happened while I was driving several times, very scary. I haven't gotten any sort of other diagnosis on my malformation and doctors tell me it's completely fine. It worries me a lot seeing as how I can be walking completely fine then fall over because I can't feel my leg.
