worried about my daughter's supposed birthmark

my daughter was born with a red/purple discoloration beside her left knee. the doctors told us that it was nothing more than a birthmark and not to worry about it. I have been keeping an eye on it and it hasn't seemed to have spread at all, but it has grown along with her leg. recently, the mark turned from red to a slighty off-flesh color. it looks like a large cluster of circular splotches under the skin. it will go back to red color if blood accumulates in her leg (if her knee stays bent for an extended period of time, ect.) I have set up a dermatologist's appointment but she won't be able to go for another month and I am pretty worried about this.

i am going to attach a picture. it isn't very easy to see because it was taken with a cellphone, but if you tilt your screen back, it becomes clear with the contrast. if you know what this is, please help me.

I'm not sure I could say for sure what that was. I don't know that a dermatologist is going to be able to help. Where are you located? Is there a specialist close to you?
