Monthly Newsletter
March 2019

A monthly update from VBF Global Ambassador Scott Cupples on happenings within the Vascular Birthmarks Foundation’s Global Ambassador Program.

As you know, the Vascular Birthmarks Foundation has created a program for members of the birthmark community to step up in a variety of ways. From spreading awareness in their communities and disseminating information on social media, to holding charity and fundraising events – VBF Global Ambassadors go above and beyond to help families affected by vascular birthmarks.

Over the past two months, we have increased the number of Ambassadors to 118, with 271 members in our Facebook group. We currently have Global Ambassadors in 19 countries and 39 states, and are actively recruiting Ambassadors all over the world to promote awareness for vascular birthmarks.

Take the Awareness Challenge!

Every month, we challenge our Ambassadors to share VBF news, initiate fundraising events and spread awareness in a variety of days.

This month, we challenge our U.S. Ambassadors to host a Buddy Booby’s Birthmark Read-Along. Buddy Booby is VBF’s Official Mascot with a port wine stain on his beak whose message of tolerance, acceptance, and hope has been shared across the world. This is an amazing story of a booby bird named Buddy and his birthmark. Thousands of children all over the world have read this book and have fallen in love with Buddy.

This year, we’re offering Vascular Birthmark Awareness Kits for a $25 minimum donation to anyone in the continental US, which includes everything needed for your next Read-Along or Day of Awareness Event. Get you kit today, and be sure to share your Read-Along photos and videos, which help us spread awareness world-wide. Unfortunately, rhis offer is limited to the continental US due to high international shipping costs.

For our International Global Ambassadors, we challenge you to host a VBF Day of Awareness event! Events can include run / walks, an informal birthmark bash with your friends and family, an informational booth at a public event, a restaurant percentage night, paint nights, exercise classes for a cause, and so much more! Anything you like to do can work as an awareness event. Keep us posted with your plans so we can share your efforts worldwide.

We also encourage all of our Global Ambassadors to participate this month in our #PutOnYourBirthmark Fridays by sharing a photo with a heart on your face, or sharing our VBF logo. Together, we are making a difference and we appreciate your leadership in raising awareness world-wide as we count down to our VBF International Month and Day of Awareness for Vascular Birthmarks in May and on May 15.

Free Birthmark Education for Global Ambassadors

The Vascular Birthmarks Foundation is constantly looking for ways to empower our Ambassadors, and grow the program to increase our outreach of support.

The VBF Educate Online Course modules are now available to registered Global Ambassadors – all you need to do is check your email, as I have sent the access code! The Physician E-Learning Center provides a platform for doctors all over the world to earn CME medical credits, and this module is now available to Global Ambassadors for free! Visit sign up and learn more!

The VBF Library has been made available to Global Ambassadors for free as well, and we really would like for you to register. The VBF Library includes the latest scholarly articles in the field of vascular birthmarks for over 70 birthmark-related keywords. Visit!

In addition to the VBF Educate module and VBF Library, I am working to develop a training module for Global Ambassadors to complete upon registration. This training will not only give a baseline of information and resources about vascular birthmarks, but will also reiterate the Global Ambassador mission. Remember, none of us are medical professionals, but we are champions of helping others get the information they need!

To our current Global Ambassadors – please monitor your email for links and codes to register for VBF Educate and the VBF Library. To everyone else – We look forward to helping you, and would love for you to register and help us spread awareness!

Thank you all, for all that you do for our community.
