I have CMTC
I have CMTC. I am 11 years old going on 12 in March. When i was born they thought my umbilical cord was wrapped around my legs, but of course i had cmtc. My family went through alot. People thought my parents abused me. They thought i was contagious. My preschool made me have a doctors note before i could attend because they thought i was contagious. Both of my legs are covered with my birth marks or "angel kisses"as my mom calls them. Mosty around my knees. My left leg is worse. They wouldn't let me join sports until I had a doctors note. it sucked. When i was 7 it got worse, girls got catty and started making fun of me. They called me purple cow and told me i had spots. I couldn't take it anymore so i asked my parents to see if i could remove them. We talked to a lot of doctors but they all said they couldn't because of my age. So i didn't get to go through with it. I do sometimes feel self consious, but most of the time i am okay with them. It still hurts when somebody looks at me with disgust and asks "What happend to your legs, eww". But they make me me.

When i was born in 1997 I was (1 in 70 who was diognosed with cmtc) in the world.

I am so sorry that you have to deal with ignorant people. I can relate to being 11 and 12 and people staring at me, or saying my parents abused me. I have a PWS on my entire right leg. I know you feel that people make fun of you, my classmates used to call me a purple dinosaur, or purple grapes. I remember crying about it. But later on when you get older, those same people won't be so shallow, surprisingly im friends with some of those same classmates. You'll reliaze that they were just kids being kids... I would have your parents take you to more doctors, not many doctors are informed on particular VB... Don't give up now! When I was 11, there was no Vascular birthmarks foundation.....Take full advantage of the help and support on here, and good luck, it will get better. I promise;)

Nicole I'm 46 and when I was in school and all the kids would ask what's wrong with your leg? I told them I was burned saving a toddlers life when I was 5!!!I still hav'nt been diagnosed but I'm pretty positive this is what I have. I'm also mad that my primary care Dr. never forced the issue with me!! The only reason I went looking for a diagnose is that it has spread up up over my navel and the left side of my body has become larger than the right side. Hang in there it gets better. Tell those kids anything you want it's not thier buisness!!!
