Growth on birthmark
Hello everyone, I just registered on the forum, and would like some help.

I am a 34 year-old male with a port wine stain covering most of my left face. 2 weeks ago a spot at the lower end of my birthmark started to bleed. I thought it was nothing and just staunched the flow with a tissue and let it scab and heal. But since then, the spot has become a small growth, oozing a bit of transparent liquid as well as blood. It has scabbed now but the growth is about 6mm in diameter and 6mm in length. I am worried that it is growing bigger and more unsightly.

It's been a difficult few months for me, as I have been struggling with depression, and this growth is not helping. I know I should see a doctor about this, but I was hoping I could get some feedback about this here.

Thank you, and hope to have a response soon.

Hi Tim and welcome!

You do need to go see someone about this. As a person ages, pws can change and what you've described sounds like a bleb or cobble. Not that that is exactly what it is, but from your description....

I don't think it will get better without any treatment.

Where are you located? We can help you find an appropriate doctor if you need us to help you.

Thank you, Missy.

I did not know about blebs til now. Have googled it and found a fair bit of information on it.

I am in Singapore, and at this juncture, I should be going to my family doctor this week for an initial diagnosis.

It is my understanding that Dr. Stuart Nelson will be in Singapore in the next few weeks. Please contact him thru ask the expert on the main page of this site or contact me via the email address below and I can forward you information to him

We too are based in Singapore. Our daughter has a facial PWS and we were directed to Prof Goh at the National Skin Centre when we moved here in 2008. Perhaps your GP could provide you with a referral to see Prof Goh?
