Herabl Treatments for PWS instead of laser
My daughter was born oct 2003 with a PWS on her entire right arm. We have decided to forgo laser treatments at this time after several consultations with a vascular birthmark surgeon. We feel when she is older, if the birthmark bothers her, then we will supporther decision to treat. I jsut wanted to know if there are any other parents out there with a situation similar to mine or any members with a PWS on their arm. I just wanted to know if in the future, her PWS will affect her arm and muscle development. The doctor said she might need pysical threapy later to work with her arm muscles. She is 3 months old now and seems to be using the arm great. No dofference form the left.
Also, I was wondering if anyone has experience or experimented with an herbal treatment. A herboligist I know suggested yarrow tea and/or yarrow tincture applied topically to the arm.
Thank you for your replies.

Re:Herabl Treatments for PWS instead of laser
Hello I was reading your post about how your child has a pws stain on her right arm.

I also have a pws on all of my right arm and fingers too. When I was 10 years old I went for laser surgery for around 5 years however it did not work for me. The only thing that I have noticed is that when my hands get cold my fingers start to swell slightly and the hand becomes tight but there is no evidence that this was due to the laser.
I have also searched for other treatments and have had no luck so far

Hi, my daughter has a H under her eyelid. It was also recomended to me to use camomile tea to wash her eye three times a day. Her mark appeared two weeks ago and has been growing rapidly since, but this afternoon, something appeared on top of the eyelid that looked kind of like a pimple. When we cleaned the eye, it broke and now her H doesn't seem as large or painful. I don't know if the tea accually helped but I'm going to continue using it and see what happens.

If this is any encouragement, I'd like you to know that I've lived almost 63 years with PWS on my left hand and arm and have suffered no physical ill effects. Of course, I'd prefer not to have these birthmarks and am self-conscious about them, but they didn't stop me from enjoying my teenage years, being in beauty contests (we did wear long gloves then), having boyfriends, and getting married.

Re:Herabl Treatments for PWS instead of laser
Hi there

My daughter was born in oct 2003 and also has a pws on her right arm, her shoulder and chest and fingers. we have been to a hemangioma specialist and she didn't say that there would be any problem with the arm, she informed us that it may be a slightly different shape than the other arm due to the fact that the skin may thicken but it will be barely noticeable. My daughters pws is effecting the skin only. It may be different if it is effecting the underlying tissue. I am in the same vote as you she seems to be moving her arm alright but most Doctors don't really know much about the condition.

I hope that this has been of some help.
