Hemangioma on Nape of Neck
1 Attachment(s)
Hello everyone. I found this website a couple of months ago when looking up information to help me understand what my [now] 5 month old daughter has at the nape of her neck. My husband and I discovered it when she was about 3 weeks old and were pretty startled by it. Initially it looked like a blood blister to us. We took her to her pediatrician and were told that it would go away on its own and just to be mindful of it (like a lot of you were told). It has since grown, does not look as intensely red as it did back then, and has some areas that are greying out. I just wanted to get some advice and opinions from you all to see if we should seek out additional medical attention for our daughter. Her pediatrician continues to keep an eye on, but says the same thing; it'll go away on its own. This photo was taken at 3 1/2 months - there hasn't been that much change since. Thanks for your help!

Where are you located? You could consult with a specialist, but I don't know if they would recommend any intervention. You could ask one of our doctors here:

Get in touch with Dr. Nelson or Dr. Levitin via our expert page: and he will direct you where to go to get help. Remember to include that photo.
