hemangioma that grows rapidly
i have a 2 mos. old daughter and she has hemangioma on her left shoulder. reddish in color and its wide about 4 inches, it appears 2 wks after she was born.i thought it was just natural birthmark.but when she grows the birthmark also grow and its ulcerated. the doctor already give oral antibiotic and an ointment antibiotic for the ulcerated area. the doctor said also, no treatment is needed, just to wait 5 or more than, cause it will fade on his own. but im worried cause it grows faster. what should i do, pls. help. thank you.

I'm sorry that your daughter is going through this. Where are you located?

im here in the philippines, sad to say, i cant find any site like this. I dont know where to go so that my daughter's hemangioma will seen thoroughly. i have read already about hemangioma, and i know theres a way to get rid of it aside from waiting, just that, i dont know where to go.. It's so upsetting.

I looked into this a bit more and I would suggest you email Dr. Nelson and Dr. Levitin for advice and what to look for/tell your local doctors. Also, you may use a product with zinc oxide to help keep the area protected. If it is extremely painful, you can try to find a doctor that offers laser treatments to help heal the ulceration. Pulse dye lasers might be difficult to find in the Phillippines... but maybe Dr. Nelson knows of someone there. Go to the Ask the Expert Panel on the home page and you can email those doctors directly. Hope this helps!
