Default First Laser Treatment

hi everyone, I am 21 years old and I just had my very first laser treatment this morning (about an hour and a half ago) everything went very well.* My birthmark starts at the right corner of my eye, goes down all the right side of my face, on and actually in my ear (every time I go to the doctor they freak out because my ear drum is bright red, some of them don't believe me when I say that is it just my birthmark!!), down my neck to my collar bone.* Its also on the entire right side of my scalp and goes down the back of my neck, but I'm not to worried about that part.* But I didn't think the bruises were going to be as dark as they are.....does anyone know how long the bruises really last?* my doctor said they last a couple of weeks, but I'm hoping for less.... anyone know?* They used the Candela laser on me, it was a lot better than I thought it was going to be!* Anyone have any "secrets" or anything about the bruises healing faster, like if I apply ice, or something like that.* If anyone has anything helpful, I would appreciate it greatly!*

Amber *

Hi Amber,

I wish I would have seen this post before I posted on your other one. LOL

I have been doing laser treatment for 18 years now off and on. I would have to say (not a doctor) that after a week you could probably start to wear your make up again. Most of the healing on the outside should be pretty well healed. It will be itchy for the next week and a half but DO NOT ITCH it because it will scar it. I use triple antibiotic ontiment after my laser treatments apply it with a Q-tip. You can also use a Q-tip if the itching gets bad just do not press hard. The icepak (or any frozon veggies lol) can cool the area down right after treatment but will not heal it faster the ointment will.

I have used three different Candela Pulse Dye Lasers (PDL). Most likely you used the V-Beam PDL. It is the most common used today and is so much faster then the older ones I have used in the past. The PDL's could only do so much for me like I explained in your other topic my PWS has grow a lot in the past few years so I have had to get some plastic surgery to remove the excess tissue from my lip and eyebrows.

I too have PWS on my ear drum. I have a lot of hearing loss with it. Do you have any?
Have you ever had the PWS on your back looked at because it could be involved in your spine?

Happy healing.
