Unhappy cost of laser treatment

Hi, I live in the UK and my local health authority have refused to pay for the laser treatment for my baby sons pws. His PWS covers one side of his face from his bottom eye lid to his top lip. He is 8 months old.
Please can anyone, anywhere in the world (and esp USA and Europe) let me know how much the treatment costs for a baby who needs anesthetic.
I'm desparate and depressed.

Why won't they cover treatments?

Has he been screened for glaucoma? or any siezure disorder?

Default Cost of treatment

He has been checked for Glaucoma at 6 days old and they decided he wouldn't need an MRI scan, I have to agree with that because even if they find sturge webber markers we can't do anything. They wont pay for the treatment because they consider it to be purely cosmetic and they wont pay for cosmetic treatments. It all comes down to our local Primary Care Trust being stoney broke and they are cutting treatments incl live saving drugs left, right and centre.

It really depends. You will probably have to call around to find out what local doctors will charge.

Default please sign this petition if BRITISH

my ds was born last october with a large facial port wine stain. I was assured all along that I would be able to get it lasered for him. We were referred to a specialist centre in Birmingham (UK)last October and recently found out our PCT wont fund the treatment.

I'm aware of at least two other children getting the treatment and at least 27 other PCT's who will fund it. We're fighting at the moment.

Please sign my petition on the prime mininster web site to help me get Toms treatment. The laser will help reduce his risk of glaucoma and also the pyschological problems associated with a large birth mark on his face. Port wine stains dont go by themselves. Just think how you'll feel if you;re lo is born with this and your pct wont pay. 3 babies in every 1000 are born with port wine stain of which a large proportion have them on their faces. Please pass this on to anyone you know

Please help

We go to a big hospital in Chicago. Each treatment with anestesia has been about $3000. Our insurance does cover it luckily. My daughter did get some treatments without anestesia and they were about $2000.

Default cost of laser treatment

We live a long way from you in Alabama. I'm not sure if I can help, but I think every places cost is different. My son had 1 laser treatment awake without anesthesia, fourtanetly my insurance does pay for this. Out insurance statement paid his doctor just over $300.00. Maybe check around for prices. I hope this works out for you.

INsurance does reimburse - but we are also treating underlying superficial veins due to KT syndrome.

I am a 21 y/o female and also looking into radiation (laser therapy) I think my insurance will cover it but they tell me the area that I need it done in is almost 90% likely to cause damage to my female organs. I am at a stand still because I don't know if I would be able to have a baby due to the fact that I have a very large hemangioma. It goes from my lower left leg, into my hip and all the way into my stomach. Any suggestions of other treatments? I have also had alcohol ethenol injections (about 53 of them) which did nothing for me except one time during one of the procedures the doctor damged my sciatic nerve and my whole left leg went numb so now I have a very large tumor and on top of that a leg that I cannot feel which has caused it to be very weak and due to the fact it's weak, I have broken it in three different places. Just recently, on June 25, I broke my actual knee cap and that really hurt so I am open to any ideas anyone might have or just to chat let me know.
