Default Infection?

My 4 month old daughter has a hemangioma on her side under her armpit. It is contantly getting irritated from clothing and people picking her up. It has had a black scab on it for a month or so and is very dry and crusty. Last week, it started to bleed a little, although the blood was not bright red; it seemed to be mixed with something else. It seems like it oozes instead of bleeds. Sometimes it seems like my daughter is in pain when I touch the H. Other times, it doesn't seem to bother her. My question is: how can I tell if the H is infected?
Thank you!

It may be infected and she should be seen by her doctor soon. Are you seeing a vb specialist? You will see discharge, may smell badly, ... the area you describe sounds like an ulcer and this can be very painful. There are ways to help heal this area. Please feel free to contact me and I can direct you to more information.
