Default eyelid treatment

is there anybody who could give me some info on the eyelid treatment? I have a 16 months old son who has a PWS on the left side of the face. He started treatment when he was 8 months old. Our doctor said that we need a special sheel to protect the eye and we tried to order it from a USA company but it seems they do not have the right size for children.
Are there any special companies that provide this kind of shells? I learned that there are quite a few types and we don't know which one is the most protective...how big is the risk of damaging the eye?
is it possible that if the area around the eye is treated the stain will grow pale?
Thank you in advance.

Go to

http://birthmark.org/experts.php and ask Dr Nelson about what you need to get and where you may be able to purchase it.

Our daughter's PWS covers part of her eyelid, too. Her doctor uses a small, cupped stainless steel shield during laser treatments. It is shaped to fit her eye, with a "stalk" sticking up out of the back of the shield so that it can be easily removed after treatment. The part of the shield that touches her eye is covered in something like silicon to make it smooth and slippery - so no pain or damage to the eye. Plus, the doctor gives her a numbing drop in the eye right before inserting the shield. It just takes a second or two to put in the shield, and it slides right out after the laser treatment is over.

These shields come in lots of sizes, including really tiny ones for newborns (which we've used with our daughter). The Laser Skin and Surgery Center in NYC (where our daughter has been treated 12 times) may be able to point you towards the vendor they purchase their eye shields from.

Blessings to you and your child!

I am surprised the doctor left it up to you to find this. My son had similar guard for his laser treatments. He was treated 7 of the 8 times in a children's hospital, so the had the correct size. Dr. Nelson should know more information on ordering one. Good luck.
