14 months old..Still waiting it out (H on Forehead)
Hey all. I just wanted to update and say hello to everyone. Just wanted to share pics of my little angel. She is 14 months old now and her H has gone down a lot and the color has gone from bright firey red to light pink. The doc says that he wants to see her in a year. He still thinks that she will have to have some kind of removal or some type of plastic surgery. I am attaching 3 images. The first is a black and white of her when she was 4 months old. The next 2 are recent pics. You can see in the side view she is crying which makes her H bigger. I hope this helps you new parents out that are waiting it out. It gets easier and there will come a day that you don't even think about it. My prayers go out to you. Blessings to you and your little ones.
Thanks Missy. She is such a joy. I just remember how scarey it was and all the emotions that went along with it. She was actually scheduled for removal at 4 1/2 months but after a lot of prayers and sleepless nights we decided to wait. Her H grew at a rapid rate from 3 months to 5 months. Hindsight we are so glad we waited because her outcome now will be much better as far as scarring goes. It is such a hard decision and my heart goes out to all who are in that stage. This site was such a life line to me and I thank everyone who helped me along the way.
She is beautiful! When did her hemangioma begin to shrink and change? My 7 month old's hemangioma continues to grow, even after 3 laser surgeries. It is nice to see pictures and know that there is a chance it will begin so go away. Thank you for sharing!
It has been slow. Her H was flat and light pink at birth and 1/3 of it's size. It grew very rapidly from about 6 weeks old to about 5 months. It seemed to stay the same from about 5 months to about 10 months (very very deep deep red and very raised). Just in the last 2 to four months have we seen more of a rapid involution.
Thanks for sharing those photos. She is beautiful. My daughter just saw a dermatologist today for a very similar one on her forehead. She suggested we trial Aldara (imiquimod).
Anyone have any experience with it?
Hi, your daughter is gorgeous! We were initially told with our daughter to wait it out but then the doc said we should try Temovate. We just started (our daughter is 8 months old with a very similar hemangioma as your daugher's one, also on the forehead). Has anyone tried this cream? Is it safe?
Yes, her H is still growing. It is getting bigger almost daily (or at least it seems that way to me!). I am going to take her back to her family doc and see if we can get a referral...maybe I should wait it out but it is starting to push down on her eye a bit and I am concerned.
