Default Venous malformations of the tongue

Just joined the board and looking for stories similar to mine. I've had a venous malformation on my tongue since I was a teenager (at least that is whenI first noticed it). It never caused me much trouble but 30 years and two kids later it had continued to grow. I saw Dr Waner who encouraged me to have it lasered and seemed sure that it was no big deal. My surgery was a week ago and after 6 days of a liquid diet and a great deal of swelling I was told yesterday from the team that I may have to have another round of laser treatment. The area that was worked on is now very firm and still quite sore. I'm fearful that I've started down a dangerous road and will never regain the nerve endings, taste, and malleability that I used to have.

Has anyone had positive results with the laser treatment of a tongue vein and is it common to need more than one treatment?

Thank you for any feedback.

Hi and welcome!

I have NO advice (I'm sorry) other than to say that you are in the best hands. If it were me, Dr. Waner is a doc I would trust.

Sorry I don't have anything except a hug. ((Tory)) but others will be around soon to post.

Tory, I would encourage you to talk with Dr. Waner indepth about your concerns. I know he will reassure you, but tell him to give you all the pros and cons.
