The Vascular Birthmarks Foundation Dr. Linda Rozell-Shannon, PhD President and Founder

Welcome to Birthmark Buddies of PA, honoring Jaysa!

Jaysa and Carla invite the birthmark community in Pennsylvania to participate in the VIRTUAL PURPLE POLKA DOT RACE by gathering informally at Grings Mill Park for a family-fun walk to the Red Covered Bridge on Sunday, August 9, 2020 at 10 AM.  We will physically gather informally at Gring’s Mill Recreation Center in Berks County to walk together starting at 10 AM.

Join us in person or support us in spirit! Make a donation to VBF in Jaysa’s honor using the form on this page.  You can also sign up for the VIRTUAL PURPLE POLKA DOT RACE – TEAM BOARD / STAFF to receive an awesome swag bag complete with an event tech t-shirt.

Help us raise awareness and funds to support the VBF’s non-profit mission this May in honor of the International Month of Awareness for Vascular Birthmarks, Anomalies and Related Syndromes.

All donations to this page will go directly to the Vascular Birthmarks Foundation’s non-profit mission. Thank you for joining us as we bring life-changing information to other families affected by vascular birthmarks.

JAYSA’S JOURNEY

I deal with multiple venous malformations in both my legs and even in my hand. The one in my knee causes constant tendonitis, so I understand when kids have chronic, hidden pain that flares up. I also have the genetic PTEN Hamartoma Syndrome which likely caused my VMs.

Every year I support VBF’s mission by donating my birthday money and joining the #PutOnYourBirthmark campaign to help raise awareness. I hope one day to become VBF’s teen advocate so I can support others. Thank you for supporting me in raising awareness.

ABOUT THE VBF PURPLE POLKA DOT RACE

Jaysa and Carla are participating in the virtual Purple Polka Dot Race this August on Team BOARD / STAFF! Inspired by Jody Lee and Meghana, founders of the PPD Race – Michigan that is now in its 5th year, Jaysa and Carla organized an informal local walk in PA, now in its second year, to honor Jaysa’s journey and to raise awareness for vascular birthmarks and fundraise for VBF’s non-profit mission. All proceeds from this page will go to VBF’s non-profit mission.

We are grateful to Jaysa and her mom Carla, our VBF Board Treasurer, for raising awareness and funds to support VBF’s mission. Consider making a gift in Jaysa’s honor using the form below. Together, we continue to make a difference.
