Prof. Romain Vanwijck graduated from the ULg in 1969 with a doctorate in medicine, surgery and childbirth, and specializes in plastic and maxillofacial surgery at ULG and Harvard University and at Canniesburn Hospital in Glasgow.
Head of the Department of Plastic and Maxillofacial Surgery from 1981 to 1986 at the Citadelle Hospital in Liège, he was appointed, in 1986, Clinical Professor of Plastic Surgery at Cliniques Universitaires St Luc and in 1988, Professor Extraordinary Professor of UCL.
In 1989, he founded the Labio-Palatin Center and in 1991 the Center for Vascular Malformations.
Founding member in 1992 in Windsor of the European Board of Plastic Surgery.
Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons (Eng).
In 1999, it led to the creation of the Inter-University Certificate Wounds and Cicatrization (UCL, ULg, ULB).
He is the publisher of three books on cleft lip and palate and wound care.
