Dr. Teresa O is a pediatric and adult facial plastic surgeon specializing in the diagnosis and treatment (medical and surgical) of vascular anomalies. Dr. O is a faculty member of The AVM Center of New York at Lenox Hill and Director of Facial Nerve Reanimation at Manhattan, Eye, Ear, and Throat Hospital (MEETH).

Dr. O’s practice is two-fold. She is an expert in the diagnosis and treatment of hemangiomas and vascular malformations. As Co-Director of the Facial Nerve Center, she also diagnoses and treats all forms of facial paralysis.

Dr. O earned her medical degree at Boston University (MD), and then completed a residency in Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at the New York Eye and Ear Infirmary in New York. Prior to this, she completed her undergraduate and graduate studies in architecture at Cornell University (B.Arch, M.Arch).

While finishing a clinical and research fellowship with Dr. Milton Waner at the Vascular Birthmark Institute of New York, she saw many children and adults who had the devastating sequelae of facial nerve paralysis. She then trained in facial nerve reanimation techniques with Drs. Hadlock and Cheney at the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary in Boston, Massachusetts.

Dr. O is involved in basic science and clinical research. She has authored and co-authored many peer-reviewed scientific journal articles and textbook chapters. She is a peer-reviewer for scientific articles being considered for publication. Her research involves the pathogenesis of hemangiomas and the development of directed treatments.

Dr. O is active in teaching residents and fellows in training. She is a member of several specialty societies such as ISSVA (International Society for the Study of Vascular Anomalies), Sir Charles Bell Society (Facial nerve disorders), AMA (American Medical Association), and the American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery. She serves on various committees. She is board certified in Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery.
