The Vascular Birthmarks Foundation is thrilled to announce that October 2014 marks our 20th Anniversary of assisting families affected by a vascular birthmark or associated syndrome. Throughout 2014 we will be celebrating our accomplishments such as over 3,000,000 monthly visits on websites with chapters on 6 continents, 75,000 networked into treatment, over 500 families provided free lodging while seeking a medical opinion or treatment, over 400 conference scholarships awarded, over 200 Day of Awareness events, over 100 insurance appeals successfully challenged, 15 conferences, 12 new programs (including our Ask/Accept Anti Bullying campaign), 10 walk/runs, 6 research projects funded, 4 physician education grants awarded, 4 college scholarships awarded, 2 International Missions Trips with over 300 treated by our international. We have exceeded all of our expectations!

On Friday, October 10, 2014, we will be hosting our 20th Anniversary “Mark of Beauty” Gala at the Hudson Theatre located at 145 West 44th Street, New York City, from 7pm until 10pm. Cost to attend will be $150 per person or $2,000 for a table of 10 (this includes 5 raffle tickets per person which are worth $20 each raffle ticket, or a value of $100 per person). The Chairs for our 20th Anniversary “Mark of Beauty” gala are Dr. and Mrs. Robert Rosen and Frank and Barbara Catalanotto.  

Dr. Rosen chairs the Lenox Hospital Vascular Anomalies Program and Co-hosts the VBF biennial conference in NYC. He is also very instrumental in the VBF international outreach program. 

Frank and Barbara Catalanotto are the Honorary Chairs of the Vascular Birthmarks Foundation. Their daughter, Morgan, was diagnosed with a hemangioma. This diagnosis led them to the VBF. Frank is a former professional baseball player, and he and his wife Barbara are the leading fund raisers for VBF.

We are pleased to announce that this year's celebrity performer will be renowned comedian Mike Stankiewicz. Mike has a port wine stain vascular birthmark. He will share his light hearted humor and also reflect on his own experiences about living with a vascular birthmark. VBF is thrilled to have Mike as the celebrity performer for our 20th Anniversary celebration. Read about Mike and check out his YouTube video. 

As noted above, the cost to attend this year’s “Mark of Beauty” gala is $150 per person, or $2,000 per table of 10 (with 5 free raffle tickets per person). Anyone with a vascular birthmark can attend for free by contacting Basia Joyce at Attire is dinner/cocktail. We had a sell-out crowd in 2008 and in 2010 and expect to sell out again this year, so please register early. There will be many commemorative events at the gala, to honor our 20 years of accomplishments. If you are coming, bring tissue – there will not be a dry eye in the house!

Dr. Martin Mihm, Jr. will be honored as 20th Anniversary Physician of the year.
