VBF is very excited to announce the 2015 Vascular Birthmarks Conference will be held in Irvine, California on Saturday, October 10, 2015. The conference will take place at the Island Hotel in Newport Beach, CA and the clinic will be conducted at the Beckman Laser Institute in Irvine, CA.

 

Dr. J. Stuart Nelson and the Beckman Laser Institute will be the sponsor of this year’s conference.

 

Families attending will hear the latest on diagnosis and treatment from vascular birthmarks experts. We also look forward to sharing our news about physician education and developments with the American Academy of Pediatrics. In the afternoon, families will personally meet with the experts to receive a diagnosis and treatment plan that they would otherwise have a difficult time receiving.

 

The philosophy of VBF is that families don’t ask to have a child born with a vascular birthmark, so we try to make it as affordable as possible, even providing one free night of lodging on Friday evening. We raise money all year long to pay for families to attend our conference. We are the only birthmark charity group in the world that provides no-cost clinic and conference participation to families in financial hardship, and we are the only group that pays for lodging.

 

Participants can choose from six clinic teams:

Team 1: Hemangiomas and Lymphatic Malformations in Children - Dr. Milton Waner and Dr. Teresa O
Team 2: Malformations of the Head and Neck - Dr. Gregory Levitin, Dr. Doug Phillips, and Dr. Srinivasan Paramasivam
Team 3: Malformations of the Extremities - Dr. Robert Rosen and Dr. Anton Hasso
Team 4: Port Wine Stains in Children and Adults - Dr. Stuart Nelson and Dr. Martin Mihm
Team 5: Sturge-Weber Syndrome and PHACE Syndrome - Dr. Francine Blei, Dr. Anthony Chang, Dr. Kristin Kelly, Dr. Anna L. Pinto
Team 6: Klippel Trenaunay Syndrome and Compression Garments - Dr. Kami Delfanian, Dr. Laura Findeiss, Dr. Deb Shatzkes

 

The registration fee of $100 per family includes conference attendance, breakfast, lunch, a clinic appointment with a team of doctors, and special topic sessions (make-up, psychotherapy, family support, insurance issues). Free daycare is also provided upon request. Anyone who cannot pay the conference fee can request a waiver on the registration form.

Participants are responsible for their own lodging. Reservations at the Island Hotel must be reserved with a credit card via this booking link or call 866-554-3620 and mention that you are reserving a room with the Vascular Birthmarks Foundation conference. If you are one of the first 50 who qualify for a free room on Friday night, you will receive a special access code in a separate email.

 

The deadline to receive the discounted hotel rate has passed. Please call the Island Hotel directly at 866-554-3620 to make a reservation and mention the Vascular Birthmarks Conf to get the best rate currently available.

 

This year, the first 50 families who must travel more than one hour to attend the conference can request a FREE hotel room at the Island Hotel for Friday night only. After these rooms are taken, families can still register but must reserve and pay for their own lodging in full.

 

Families should fly into the John Wayne Airport (closest to the event). There is no shuttle to the hotel, but a regular tax cab is approx. $25-$30. The LAX airport is another option, and flights may be cheaper to that airport, but it is over an hour away and families are responsible for travel to the hotel, approx. $65.
