The Vascular Birthmarks Foundation, with Dr. J. Stuart Nelson and the Beckman Laser Institute, will host the 2017 Annual VBF Conference and Clinics in Irvine, California on Saturday, October 7th.

Patients and their families will spend the morning in educational sessions addressing the latest updates on diagnosis and treatment led by a faculty of the world’s leading vascular birthmarks experts. Daycare will be provided for younger patients and attendees so that older family members can remain focused on the content.

In the afternoon, special sessions and family support groups will be held in conjunction with one-on-one clinical appointments at the nearby Beckman Laser Institute; transportation is provided between the two venues. The clinics for hemangiomas, port wine stains, vascular malformations, and syndromes associated with vascular birthmarks bring patients together with panels of renowned experts to receive a diagnosis and treatment plan that might otherwise be impossible to obtain. Orthodontal exams, dental exams (tentative), and laser treatments (tentative) are being planned.

The $100 per patient conference registration fee includes all education and special sessions, clinic appointments, breakfast and lunch for the patient and accompanying persons, and daycare (if needed). Those who request a waiver for financial hardship will pay only a $25 processing fee.

The first 50 families who must travel more than two hours to attend the conference may also request one night of free lodging at the conference venue, the Island Hotel in Newport Beach; VBF will cover the room rate of $229 and the room taxes.

All conference attendees are responsible for their own airfare and ground transportation. Attendees who plan to fly to the conference are reminded that Orange County's John Wayne Airport (SNA) is closest to the Island Hotel.  The Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) is approximately 44 miles from the hotel.  There is no hotel shuttle to or from either airport.

Through year-round fundraising efforts and the generous support of its conference sponsors, VBF is the world’s only birthmark organization that underwrites lodging, conference and clinic fees for families in financial hardship.

VBF expresses its sincere appreciation to Dr. Nelson, Medical Director of the Beckman Laser Institute and Co-Medical Director of the VBF, for hosting the 2017 conference and serving as its primary sponsor.
